M.J. Hester have a history of supporting charitable causes.
One such organisation is the homeless charity,
Emmaus. Every June M. J Hester sponsor the Emmaus Leeds Golf Day. The 2005 event, held at Sand Moor Golf Club in Leeds, proved very successful, raising £4000.

Our support for this worthwhile cause goes beyond a few relaxing rounds of golf. In January 2003 and January 2005, Joe and Tony Hester, along with family and friends, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, not once but twice, in order to raise money for Emmaus in Leeds. Both our climbs were the subjects of interviews shown on prime-time TV as part of the BBC 's Look North program, and so far they have raised in excess of £300,000.

M. J. Hester also support the work of
St. George's Crypt in Leeds, an organisation that has provided care and support for tens of thousands of people since 1930.
In the Spring/Summer of 2007 M J Hester were involved with the complete replastering of Faith Lodge, Blackman Lane, Headingley. This is new community home for St George's Crypt.
We were pleased to carry out this work on a cost only basis for St George's Crypt.
During the course of our works we had the pleasure of showing the Rt. Reverend Arthur Roche, Bishop of Leeds and also the Rt. Hon. Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
